Chia Seeds - A Superfood Indeed

Reasons I like chia seeds that extend beyond growing grass on a head and giving it a funny hair cut.

-mixes easily sprinkled into cottage cheese, shakes, and oatmeal among many other things without compromising taste.

-they have the ability to absorb up to 12 times their weight in water, assisting the body to prolong hydration and retain electrolytes. Pretty important given the importance of hydration when it comes to feeling full, burning fat and building muscle. Also important for when you're pushing and bettering yourself at boot camp.

-3.4 grams of polyunsaturated fat (omega 3) to assist in removing the bad cholesterol from our system.

-good source of zinc which aids men for testosterone production.

-good source of magnesium which helps us to relax and ease our nerves. Also aids our sleeping patterns. Since taking chia seeds with my night time snack, my sleeps have been deeper than ever and I've been waking up with far more energy. Sleep is also the most valuable time for our bodies to recharge and let our muscles recover after a great workout. If you're cheating yourself on sleep, you're cheating yourself on progress, whether you're aiming for fat loss or muscle gain.

-5 grams of fiber.

-packed with other great nutrients such as iron, calcium and potassium.

-not necessary for me, but gluten free.

Simply put, chia seeds are pretty awesome and pack quite the punch for something so small.
